Random Wednesday: Take One

Hump day is finally here! Happy dance time. Wednesday is my favorite day of the week, and by week I mean working days. It's right in the middle. The point of no return. And it's at this point that I'm happy to run off into the great beyond that is the rest of the week steamrolling my way towards the gloriousness that is the weekend. It's also the first Random Wednesday post. Again, I still haven't really decided where I'm going with this. It may not work out....

For now... I stumbled upon Blogger Buzz and was particularly irritated by this jem:

"In about two weeks from today, all Blogger accounts that haven't yet made the switch will be upgraded to the new user interface. You will be able to opt-out at any time by clicking the "Switch back" link; however, all accounts will eventually be permanently upgraded."

Blogger, please don't do this to us. I know we were together a few years ago and then I left you for no good reason. But then I realized that you're the only one for me and I came back and we've been flourishing. And now this? Now you want to "flip the script"? WHY?!?!?

I've viewed the updated interface and I have 3 words to describe it. Fucking Hate It.

I'm a slave to aesthetics. And I don't mean that in regards to personal grooming, although I do feel you should at least be presentable. And by presentable I mean don't look homeless. Unless of course, it's a "Fat Day" or "Lazy Day" or any other couch confined day. Where was I? Oh yes, aesthetics. I like shit to look good. I like smooth lines and nice, eye-catching yet complementary colors. I like smooth interfaces and things that are user-friendly. The best example I can give.... Would you rather have a Wells Fargo color scheme or that of Capital One/Chase/Citi?  I rest my case.

Why change something that is perfectly fine the way it is? I ask this of you too Facebook developers. LEAVE THE DAMN SITE ALONE!!! You'd think after the constant complaints you'd leave things be. I don't need YOU to tell me what the top stories are or what interests me. I'm pretty sure I know what my interests are given the fact that, you know, they're my interests!

Today does not bode well....

  1. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought this. When the new interface first came out, I was excited to try it... and I absolutely hated it. I switched back on the spot. I dread the day we're forced to revert back. UGH.

  2. I haven't tried the new interface. I think my strategy on all websites is to just lay low under the radar and hope that I'll somehow be missed or forgotten when the sweeping updates come along.
