Addition Through Subtraction

Day 4 - Addition through subtraction - What have you let go of this year and how has it affected you?

This prompt immediately brings the word purge to mind. In some way or another we are always cleaning. Cleaning the house, our desks, our cars, the fridge.  We need to remember that it's important to clean out our lives as well.

This year I have let go of people. I personally have no qualms about cutting people out of my life. Sometimes it's a little more difficult that others but if it's necessary, I will do it. I don't have the time or energy to put effort into relationships that don't deserve it. If time after time it's still the same it's time to move on.

In return it opens up room for me to let positive people and experiences into my life. I quit my old job and now work for a real company. I have stopped speaking to or associating with certain people and my life has much less drama.

This post may  make me seem somewhat callous but I think  we sometimes get so caught up in trying to be there for other people or be a good friend that we forget our own needs. We forget to lookout for ourselves and end up staying in draining relationships. In the end that's not beneficial to the person we're trying to help... or to ourselves.
