Balance Act

A few weeks ago I opened my blog and I have 68 followers. I did a happy dance in my chair. 68 people. I remember back when I reached 5. I decided that when I hit 100 I'd like to do a giveaway. Not so much for me, but for all of you. As a thank you.

Today I'm at 83 and I'm just as thrilled as when I hit 5. It truly means a lot to me that you all follow, read and comment.

I haven't put much thought into the giveaway but I suppose it's time. I want it to be semi-personal, practical and fun. I don't have a large guy following but I'll make sure that there's something for the guys too! I'll keep you guys posted as we get closer.

In other news, Hump Day is here. I don't know about you but at this point all my days and weeks are just blurring together. And to think, we're not even in full holiday swing yet! Being a list-maker it just helps to see what I need to do on paper to know where I'm at and what I'm behind on. However, even making my lists and checking them twice (yea, I'm excited for Christmas) school is seriously kicking my ass. And the part that's frustrating is it's not really the classes. It's getting there. It's the late nights which leave me exhausted by 8pm. It's having no time to cook or clean so the house is messier than I'd like and I haven't seen a square meal in weeks. Usually I'm able to find a happy balance. This time, I don't know. The pieces just aren't fitting together.

Last night I carved my pumpkin. You guys want to hear something crazy?! Boyfriend has never carved a pumpkin. Never. Never ever. I was shocked. Clearly he had a deprived childhood. Since he was a virgin carver I let him make the pumpkin seeds. I told him what to do supervised. I do a different pattern every year. Last year, remember George and Igor, I kept it simple and just did simple faces. A few years before that I showed my Giants pride.

This year I wasn't sure what I wanted to do exactly. We got a medium sized pumpkin so I had some room for something semi-big. I don't have any "official" carving tools so I'm limited on certain designs. After browsing Google images I found a pattern online that I liked and went to town. Bloggers... meet Boris.
I think he's pretty hot.

Lastly, I've been toying around the idea of having a custom blog design done. I'm tired of trying to work within Blogger's parameters. I find them very limiting and, well, boring. I want fun fonts and pretty colors. I'd do it myself but seriously, HTML is pretty intimidating. So I'm turning to you guys. Do you have someone you'd recommend? Is there a blog you follow whose layout you really like? Let me know!

  2. Well the only person I know who is good with web design is Fang at blog.fangtalks.com. I'm pretty sure he designed that himself and even though he's really young he is employed as a web designer. I've always wanted to do a giveaway but I've sadly never had the funds to do so :( I've also never carved a pumpkin. Or even had a pre-carved one. When you're done with this school I hope you can find one that's less damaging to your health, both mental and physical. If there's a way to have more free time then I hope you can do it.

Love your pumpkins!  I do my designs on my own using The Cutest Blog on the Block templates.  So glad we "met" thru Erin's Pinktober!
