D.A.S.H.ing

Hello lovelies!

I want to say thank you to all of you that wished me a happy birthday yesterday in some form. And for those of you that didn't, well, let's try again next year shall we?

In case you haven't picked up on it I'm a pretty low key gal. If I have football and beer and pizza I'm a happy camper. So I stuck with that for the birthday festivities. There was no crazy party, no bottle service, no trendy or glam outfit. I went to my regular bar with the boyfriend and MBFF and drank. And laughed. And just enjoyed myself.

Although, maybe the outfit was a little trendy? What say you?

And because of that vest today I'm linking up with Sheaffer from Pinterest Told Me To... for D.A.S.H.

Have you guys heard of her blog? If not, seriously check her out. I love that she takes styles that she sees on Pinterest and then copies them adding her own flair. For a "maxxionista" on a tight budget this is perfect for me. Plus, how awesome is her name??

So D.A.S.H.... No it has nothing to do with the Kardashians. It's better! From the creator herself:

"I know everybody likes getting a good deal,
but if you're like me,
there's something even better than getting a good deal... SHARING a deal!
Am I right ladies?
Well...we're going to give everybody a platform to scream things like,
"HEY PEOPLE... YOU SEE THIS AWESOME SCARF?
WELL, IT WAS $3.64!"
and
"YOU SAID YOU LIKE MY BOOTS? WELL, I'VE GOT NEW FOR YOU PAL!
THEY WERE ORIGINALLY $345, BUT I GOT THEM ON SALE FOR $70!"

It's true. I love getting a great deal. You all saw my swag from Bath & Body Works on Black Friday. If not, I got all this... for real cheap.

How can you go wrong with $182.50 in savings??

Later that morning my Aunt took me birthday shopping while we were both in NY on Black Friday. I had a $200 limit and I came in well below that.

Vest: TJ Maxx, Similar here  Boots: TJ Maxx and DSW Shirt: JCP, similar here Skirt: JCP  Jacket: JCP

I got the fur vest (Fenn Wright Manson - a label I've truly never even heard of) for $29.99. It retails at $60.00 (says the tag). This was something I've had my eye on for awhile. I'm picky though and wanted the color to be just right. A bonus with this one is that it has eye-hook clasps so I can close it if I'd like.

I am soooo infatuated with these boots. (Sheaffer aren't you proud!?) They're G by Guess and I scored them for $39.99. DSW has them as well (see link above), and in black. They retail at around $100.

All season I've been seeing the Peter Pan collar and I wasn't sure about it but decided to get this shirt and give it a try. It's got some sparkle and you can't go wrong there. It was originally $20 but I ended up getting it for $12.

I'm a big fan of houndstooth so when I saw this skirt I knew I needed it. Yes, needed. It was $25 but I picked it up for $17.50.

I fell in love with cognac last fall. I know, I'm a late bloomer. Since then I've wanted cognac boots and a leather jacket. Finally, victory was mine. I went to the coats department in JCP just to browse and see if I could find something similar to what I had in mind. This jacket was sitting there, alone, in all its glory. And it was my size! I tried it on and it went on like butter. Perfect fit. It retailed at $40. It's now hanging in my closet for a happy $28.

Retail total: $245
Paid total: $127.48

  3. Well given my incredible reluctance to spend money I do find myself preferring to buy things when a sale is on. The only problem with that is that I'm also paranoid as to if something is genuinely on offer. A lot of things sell for their retail price at "half price" and it always makes me suspicious as to how good a deal I'm actually getting here.

Anyway, a belated happy birthday :)

Oh SNAP - happy belated birthday dear! I'll do better next year! ;) I love your cute fur vest - you look awesome and the night sounds exactly like what i did for my bday! I also love a great deal then bragging about it :) sometimes though i just have to splurge - i found the perfect betsy johnson coat at ross over the weekend, and even though it was still way marked down from the original price, it felt a little much to spend $70 on a coat... but alas, i freaking love it :D

  10. Oh yes, I'm a deal hunter, but more for electronic gadgets than anything. I'll leave the fashion deals to the wife, who's (rightfully) been put in charge of clothing me. I've proved incapable of doing it myself.
