Goodies, Gifts and... Steroids?

It's finally here! The Friday before Christmas! I feel as though I've been waiting for this day for about, oh... 64361 days. This week would.not.end. Amiright?

And as long as the week was some great things went on. In case you're unaware I'm participating in a giveaway with 7 other ladies over at Miss Erin's place, Shades of Gray and a Pinch of Pink. Get in on that, seriously.

And yesterday was the giant link-up for the Secret Santa Gift Swap. I played Santa to Kayla and lucky for me she loved all her goodies. I still don't know who I had for a secret Santa but as I mentioned in yesterday's post, her gifts couldn't have come at a better time.

Something really  exciting happened to me this week. And by exciting I mean it sucked. Remember on Monday when I mentioned how I ate my first pomegranate last weekend? No? See it HERE. Well, it turns out I'm allergic to them (I think). Crazy right?! On Tuesday as I was getting ready for work I realized that my neck and chest were covered in hives. I thought it was weird but really didn't think much of it and rubbed on some Benadryl cream. I figured something bit me in my sleep. Well, throughout the day it just kept getting worse. I called my doctor's office as I was leaving work and fortunately Tuesday was her late night so I was able to get an appointment for about an hour later.

When my doctor sees me she immediately tells me I'm having al allergic reaction to something I ate or somehow inhaled. I couldn't think of anything new I had eaten. I mean, I always eat the same foods and I have zero allergies so I couldn't figure it out. She sent a script for steroids to my pharmacy and told me to take an OTC allergy medication as well.

After I picked up my meds, got home, took them and was getting ready to leave for school (math final - ugh) it dawned on me that I did  eat something new - the pomegranate! So, although it's not confirmed I have a strong feeling it's the culprit. It's the only new thing I've eaten in months. I guess it's a good thing I was on the fence about the fruit because I won't have any qualms about not eating another one. My Dr. told me that if it's not cleared up within the 6 days (that's the length of the steroid pack) then I'll need to go see an allergist. For me, this was insane. I have no allergies. Pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, eggs, nuts, etc. - none of it bothers me. And I am, apparently allergic to pomegranate. Go figure.

Have you ever discovered a hidden allergy??

In other news, this will be my last post...until after Christmas. There will just be too much going on while I'm home. Plus, I hope to come back to Blogland with fun stories and goings on for all of you.

There will be lots of new coming to CTAM in the next few weeks and I look forward to sharing it with you all. I hope you all have very merry Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or whatever it is that you're celebrating!

I'll see you when all the crazy is over!

  1. I hope you have a merry Christmas too :) It's a shame about the allergy but at least it's something you aren't very fond of. A friend of mine just developed an allergy to chocolate. She was devastated and nigh inconsolable.

  2. OHMYGOD HOW CUTE IS YOUR FUCKING BLOG RIGHT NOW??? I want to eat it. Like a goddamn cupcake. seriously. LOVE. Can you make over my blog? Because yours is RIDICULOUS! RIDICULOUS IN AN AWESOME WAY!!

I know my excessive use of caps lock makes that all look totally fake but for realsies, I AM SO DOWN WITH THE NEW LOOK. SO. DOWN.

I bought a pomegranate last night and thought of you but then I felt bad for thinking of you because what if even just thinking about you and a pomegranate in the same thought could give you, like, thought-hives? Like a voodoo doll? Allergy voodoo? Anyway...if you felt oddly itchy last night....sorry.

  3. Thank you so much. I'm so in love with it. And I was not feeling itchy, so I think we're safe on the thought-hives.
