2013 BTD

In keeping with the beginning of the year theme I'm presenting you with the 2013 Big To Do. It used to be STD (stuff to do) but it was brought to my attention that it probably wasn't the best acronym. If you've been with me from the beginning then you'll recall the 2012 BTD. Out of 34 items only 6 were crossed off. I don't know about you but I think I can do better.

I'm not one for resolutions but I am about lists. There's just something gratifying about writing something down and then crossing it off. As before the list is comprised of things that I want to do within the year whether I've been putting them off, want to do them again, or it's something I need to do.

2013 BTD

Get tattoo #6
I'm a tattoo junkie. I know what I want but I'm very particular in where they go.

Visit the Sam Adams brewery
I love my Sam Adams. I love Boston. How is this not win-win?

Spend a weekend in D.C.
I've never been. Ever. I need to fix this once and for all.

Visit the Eastern State Pennitentiary (Philly)
I've been trying to corral my friend into doing this at Halloween time for the past 2 years. They're lame and never want to go. I'm also a history nerd at time so I guess I'll just go during the day, by myself and get hit with some knowledge.

Participate in the Polar Bear Plunge (2/23/13)
My grandparents donated and volunteered their time to the Special Olympics for as long as I can remember. My Aunt still does. This year I'll be jumping in the Atlantic in February to do my part.

Go on a cruise
Vacation - 'nuff said.

Leave the Eastern time zone
I've never left the eastern time zone. I've never been west of Knoxville, TN. I need to remedy this.

Get my financial life under control
This is always weighing on me. And I mean always. I hate living paycheck to paycheck. The tax nightmare is finally under control. I just need to start building a savings and keeping money in my checking account.

Commit to a healthy lifestyle again (This will be continuous)
I made this decision back in 2009. And then I jumped off the wagon. It's time to get back on and keep at it.

Finish decorating my apartment... or move
In April I'll have been in my apartment for 3 years. It's still not decorated which drives me nuts. At this rate, I either need to do it, or not do it and just save the time/money for the hope that Boyfriend and I will move in together this year.

Build my wardrobe
I've slowly made progress on this throughout 2012 but it's something I need to continue. T-shirts and jeans are just not acceptable for daily wear. When I do the t-shirt look it isn't cute. It looks like it's laundry day and I just rolled out of bed.

Find a new job that will utilize my degrees and skills
I've had my current job since August 2011. Although I love my company and coworkers I am beyond bored. There's zero growth and that's one of the main reasons I left the previous job. Time to dust off the resume.

Grow my blog
I love writing. I love reading. I love sharing with all of you. I've crept my way to as many followers as I have now but I'd like to gain more of course. Slow and steady right?

Read 60 books
Last year's goal was 50. I read 55. Time to up the ante.

It's not a huge list this time.  Sure there are other things I want to do and accomplish in this year but I find that keeping it short will make it more attainable.

What's on your 2013 To-Do list??

  1. OO those are good ones! I'll just be working on my best girlfriending. :P

  2. I'm so thrilled that you are doing The Polar Bear Plunge, too! I just wish that we coordinated so that you, Jewels and I could do it together! The good news is that we'll be doing ours first so we'll be able to give you the skinny on the dip. ;-)

And this is a pretty kickass list!

  3. Great goals - love your book one... I'm lucky if I read 5 a year unfortunately.  And OMG that polar bear plunge makes me cold just thinking about it - you are one strong cookie!

  4. Great list here! Some of them are eerily similar to mine, which will post later on today (I hope). Is it a Jersey-girl-blogger thing?? Best of luck & happy new year!!

  5. Just Keepin' It Real FolksJanuary 4, 2013 at 10:55 AM

Very productive list. You will love DC. So much to do and lots of museums are still free. I always wanted to see the State Penn in Philly too. Plus, Philly is one of my favorite cities.

  6. You need to travel!  Come to Dallas, we'll have fun.  :)  Great list, all seems pretty do-able and not at all overwhelming.  My list is WAY simplified this year.  I'm sticking to what's really a priority - my family and my health.  The rest is just gravy.

  7. I don't have a to-do list really. But good luck with yours. It's a shame you crossed off so little last year but you can do way better. Reading books and trying to live a healthier life are always things worth doing. It's pretty impressive you were able to read 55 books.

  8. I wanna get another tattoo! I'm with you on knowing WHAT I want its just a matter of WHERE for me as well! DC....DO IT! ESP do it for Halloween its a blast! Cruise I am thinking about going in April myself! Healthy lifestyle will only benefit you for the rest of your life! DO IT NOW!

  9. Ambitious. Now let's see if you can accomplish it.

I didn't fare too well with my list last year. :P

  10. We share a TON of to-do's - whoa! I think I might just print this out for myself.
