I've been bit by the fitness bug - FINALLY!!

It's taken long enough. Fortunately once I make the decision (for real) it's stuck and I'm doing it. It started with My Fitness Pal (find me at gotjack28).

I'm currently set on 1400 calories a day. All the calculators say I should be eating around 1900 for a sedentary lifestyle but if the goal is too lose weight, I don't want to be eating almost 2000 cals a day. So I'm at 1400 and I find that this is a good number for me.
I haven't seen any difference in inches or weight but I do feel better.

I've been doing squats and a 5 minute ab workout every to every other morning and I find that I don't hate it. I also hit the gym twice this past weekend.
I even kicked K out of my house so that I could start my work out and I passed up Girl Scout cookies on Monday.

I bought an exercise ball last week and the Pinterest gods are behind me. While I was looking for something else  noticed a pin for exercises to do on a workout ball. Score!! I pinned and I'm printing it to hang up so that I will see it every day.

I'm not even worried about looking good in my bathing suit. It fits. I had it on for the plunge.
I'm doing this for me. I want to be healthy.
I don't want to have to go through this all over again in another 3 years.

Next up I'm planning to purchase a set of free weights and perhaps a medicine ball.

Could it be my hidden gym rat is coming out to play??
I freaking hope so.

What gets or keeps you motivated?

  1. Awesome job! I got bit by the fitness bug too a couple weeks ago and have been doing so well ever since. It's a really good feeling and is awesome just feeling better/healthier!

  2. Awesome! I agree with you on so many things! I want to be healthy. I dont like the summer because of bathing suits so I am about to embark on a healthier eating journey. The exercising is going to have to come later :/

  3. Awesome! We have a group of lady bloggers who are getting Slim by the Summer. If you're interested, We'd love to have you!

  4. MAN I need to kick it into gear. How you're handling it sounds like the perfect way to ease into it too!

  5. I have an exercise ball! I'mma have to head over to stalk your Pinterest and find the exercises. Because right now we mainly just use it to balance on while the dogs run around and go nuts because HOLY CRAP, THERE IS A GIANT TENNIS BALL IN THE HOUSE AND I CAN'T WRAP MY MOUTH AROUND IT.

I actually think a quick workout before work is the most ingenious thing I ever heard and I'm a little embarrassed I never thought of it before. Like I really can't spare five minutes a day for ab exercises? But it's not so long that you have to wake up crazy-early and get your ass to the gym. Man. SMART. BRILLIANT, even.
