Reading Rainbow

It's no surprise that I love reading. I mean last year's goal was to read 50 books and I ended up reading 61. This year I'm going for 60.... and I'm 9 behind. Oops.
I'm hoping planning to get a lot of reading done this summer while I soak up the rays on the roof or down the shore. I mean, that's what summer is for isn't it?
I've been stumbling across summer reading lists, and here's a look at what I've added to my list. Hopefully I'll actually get to them.

Mindy Kaling has become really popular with her show The Mindy Project. She also starred in 40 Year Old Virgin. At first, she annoyed me, and she kind of still does. I think it's her voice. Slowly, though, she's growing on me and I think this book will be funny.
"Wickedly hilarious and utterly recognizable, Girls in White Dresses tells the story of three women grappling with heartbreak and career change, family pressure and new love—all while suffering through an endless round of weddings and bridal showers." via

Someday, Someday, Maybe
This book I'm learning about thanks to Allyssa. It's from Lorelai Gilmore herself! How can it be bad? That woman is funny no matter what she's in. "From Lauren Graham, the beloved star of Gilmore Girls and Parenthood, comes a witty, charming, and hilariously relatable debut novel about a struggling young actress trying to get ahead―and keep it together―in New York City." via

Silver Girl

Elin Hilderbrand is one of my favorite authors. I love her books. They're nice stories that are perfect for summer reading. She lives in Nantucket, which is also where all of her books take place.
"Meredith Martin Delinn just lost everything: her friends, her homes, her social standing - because her husband Freddy cheated rich investors out of billions of dollars. Desperate and facing homelessness, Meredith receives a call from her old best friend, Constance Flute. Connie's had recent worries of her own, and the two depart for a summer on Nantucket in an attempt to heal. But the island can't offer complete escape, and they're plagued by new and old troubles alike." via

That's it for now. I know my actual To Read list is massive with 175 books, but I will read them all... eventually.

What are you planning on reading this summer?
What do you suggest?

  2. I don't think I've heard of any of those books but they sound pretty good really. Unfortunately I don't really have any suggestions for you but good luck with all that reading.

  3. I love David Sedaris' new short story collection. It's a bit of travel fiction meets culture critique. But you don't have to take my word for it....

  7. Lauren Graham wrote a book?? No. Way. NO WAY! That's awesome. And Mindy Kaling's book has been on my list for longer than I care to admit...someday, man. Someday.
