Dammit Janet

We're late to the playground today because last night 10 years worth of procrastination finally paid off. I was scrolling through Yelp events on Wednesday and came across the most magical of Halloween events ever to happen.

I first fell in love with Rocky Horror....sometime back in the early 00s. That wasn't weird to write or anything... It's one of my absolute favorite musicals. Aliens, Tim Curry in a corset, Meatloaf - what's not to love?! I own the movie and probably watch it at least 4x a year. So when I saw that Maxwell's was hosting a live performance by The Home of Happiness, I knew I needed to be there.

Costumes were encouraged but I didn't have anything RH appropriate so I just went as regular me. K absolutely hates RH so sent him this earlier in the day and told him to start practicing.

Just in case you're unfamiliar
The whole performance was actually a charity event with all proceeds going directly to "benefit the ongoing Restoration of the formerly Abandoned Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery - a historic NJ treasure of 350 years of history and nature."

I've never even heard of this place.

The show started at 8:30ish so we made sure to be there early for good seats. There was no need. We sat in the very front row. I've read that people like to bring/use props to RH shows since they're 99.9% effective better with audience participation. I originally planned on just watching and taking it all in but they were selling the props for $3. I had to.

If you've never been to a live show - what a freaking experience. It is so much fun. It can get a bit confusing/distracting with everyone yelling back at the actors but really, it all makes sense.

And now for the photo dump!

The virgins are ready!!

I was more than happy to buy this poster. For $5, how could I not.

"I Can Make You a Man"

He played an amazing Frank n furter

We had such a great time. K was a little shocked by some things and kept looking my way with the what have you brought me to kind of look. Overall he said it was good. He would never admit to having a good time though.

And what better way to end the night than with the world's best combination of foods?

MacNcheese all day!

How was your weekend?

  2. It's a bit of a sin but I only saw RH for the first time in the past few years actually. I can say I've seen it now though. It's really, really awesome. I'd love to see it on the stage but I reckon I'd have issues with it not being the original cast.

It'd be nice to now have to watch Meatloaf die though.
