Christmas Classics

We're fully in the midst of a Christmas countdown. ABCFamily's 25 Days of Christmas is on and showing the non-animated version of the Grinch every other day. There are only 12 more days of waiting for the man with the bag because Christmas is on its way! With all of that, I figured I'd take a page from Tranae's book and give you a list of my favorite holiday movies.
I consider myself somewhat of a movie junkie. I only buy movies that I will watch over and over until I physically can't watch them anymore because the disc is ruined in some way. Gone With the Wind, Dirty Dancing, Ever After... I've lost track how many times I've seen either of them.
Holiday movies are a bit different, with the exception of one, I really only watch these this time of year. But I watch them over and over. Grab your popcorn, the show's about to start!

"He looks like a pink nightmare!"
A Christmas Story
Believe it or not I was only introduced to this movie in 2006. It quickly became one my favorites and I watch it probably 8 of the 24 hours that TBS shows it on Christmas Eve. Between the soap, the major award and the pole licking, I can't not watch this movie.

Heat Miser and Snow Miser
The Year Without a Santa Claus
I have my Mom to blame for this one. She grew up watching these sorry Mom and they're now madatory for me. The songs are just too catchy.

The Holiday

This isn't your typical "holiday movie" as in there's no animation but I love it just the same. With Jack Black, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz, the cast is awesome. It's just a cozy movie, perfect for a snowday. Plus I think Cam looks gorgeous in this movie.

Elf
Do I really need to say anything? Two words: cult classic

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas
I'm pretty sure I started watching this in utero. I'm partial to the original. The live version is ok, but it's just not the same without the narration from Boris Karloff. Fun fact: Thurl Ravenscroft sang the "You're a Mean One" song. He's better known as the voice of Tony the Tiger.

Of course there are a zillion more but it's Friday and there are drinks to be had!

  3. The Grinch and The Santa Claus are up there for me as far as holiday movies go. I don't watch too many movies these days really. I think my attention span is dying a slow death.

  5. Elf for sure! I always watch it. I'm not really even a Will Ferrell fan, but that movie is just hilarious.

  6. I've never seen A Christmas Story from beginning to end. Everyone keeps telling me I have to see it but I've never gotten around to watching.

  7. I love those claymation holiday cartoons. My favorite is Jack Frost. I DVR them and make Scott watch them with me :)
My favorite is a tie between A Christmas Story and It's a Wonderful Life. I do love The Holiday though!
Gone with the Wind is one of those I've also seen WAY too many times. You have good taste.

  8. I like all of these EXCEPT Christmas Story. I have NEVER been able to enjoy it. I guess I'm a sucker for the happy-go-lucky ones, but not the 'heavy' Christmas stories. I would add It's a Wonderful Life, Family Stone, Miracle on 34th, Love Actually, etc.
