30 x 30

This is the last year of my 20s. Wow. I really had to take a minute after writing that first sentence to let it sink in a bit. My 20s are... over.  ThankyoubabyJesus! I know a lot of people do 30x30 lists and being a list obsessed girl, I am going to do one as well... with a twist.

Since rejoining WW back in January I've wanted to get serious about going back to the gym. I feel like I've really connected with Kat who has a seriously hard on for fitness. She's been motivating and inspirational. I mean, have you seen her?! Talk about dedication! Add to that my blogging buddies Setarra, Nikki, and a few others, and I have some awesome support for this journey I've started.

Two weeks ago I sat down with K and we came up with a gym routine for me to do. As of tonight I'll have completed two full weeks and I am absolutely loving it. We built it as a progression routine. The easiest way to explain it is that I do three sets of  X for each exercise. On my third set I go for failure, meaning I do as many as I can while maintaining form. Each week if I hit failure (exceed the set) I'll add 5lb of weight. The point is to get to a weight where I max out on the set (10-10-10).

Even at only one week, it was impressive to see how many more reps I had in me than just the 10 or 15 I do in sets one and two. Since I'm a visual person, I made a chart to keep track of it all. I also have a similar chart for my lower and total body days. So what's the point of all of this?

So I can walk out of my house every morning like this...

Please karma, let me die and come back as Beyonce. Pretty please?
Ok, that's not the real reason but it's encouraging. At the end of November I will be embracing the big 3-0 and really, I can't wait. It got me thinking though. I want to be in shape for my birthday. And not just my birthday, I want to live out my life in the best body I can create. By some odd coincidence I have 30 pounds to lose.

So that's it. 30 pounds by the 30th birthday. I started February 1st so I'll have 10 months to make this happen. Challenge accepted.

  1. Scheduling workouts is a great way to stay on track! I did it that way for a long while! Now I go nuts if I can't get a workout in! GREAT work friend!

  2. Good luck, I know you can do it! Blogging has motivated me to do so many things one of these days it's going to be to get in shape.
