Day Tripper

This post was inspired by the Turo (formerly Relay Rides) Road Trip Essentials Campaign.
I received no compensation and all opinions are my own.

You know what I love about summer? The perception of endless possibilities. Summer always seems to present an air that anything is possible, a never ending supply of fun times and memories.

One of my favorite summer activities is taking road trips. It really doesn't matter how far I'm driving, as long as I'm going somewhere. The destination isn't the only good thing though.

And to that, I of course have a list. 5 necessities for the ultimate road trip.

Five - An Awesome Destination
Ok, I know this is kind of hypocritical to what I just said up there, BUT, if you know you're headed somewhere awesome it just adds to the feel of the trip.

Four - Time
This one may seem like a cop out but I assure you it's valid. Would you rather rush through a trip or take some time to smell the great outdoors. Besides, how else do you get a chance to stop for the detours?

Three - A camera
If you're not bringing a camera on a road trip, you're doing life wrong. How else are you going to capture all the hilarious things that won't make sense when you retell the stories to other people? Besides, pictures are worth a thousand words.

Two - A down-for-anything Co-pilot
This person is the Danny Zucko to your Kenickie. Your second. They're going to take over when you get too tired, they're going to sing along with you, and they're going to point out all the wacky things you just have to stop and see.

One - Good music.
This ranks #1 for me because you don't need company to have a great road trip. It helps for conversation and picture taking but I can have a good time by myself. Music, however, is key. It sets the tone for the drive and your mood. My personal favorites are all over the board. Seriously, I'll listen to everything from Madonna to Dave Matthews; Metallica to Rebelution. It's all perfect summer music.

Do you have any road trips planned for this summer? Where to?

6 Signs You Might Be a Cat Lady

It's no secret that I love my cats, especially after April's Meltdown. What you may not know is that at one time, for 3 years, I had 6 cats. In the same house. And it was a shit show.

Way back in my "I'm 17 and know everythang!" days I had just moved into my 1st apartment and I wanted a cat. But there are things they don't tell you about owning a cat so of course I got one. And then another. And then somehow we ended up at 6.

In all my years of cat ownership, I've been called a cat lady more times than I care to remember. Since when did this become a bad thing? You don't hear people saying, she's such a dag lady! But here's the thing, it's easier to become a cat lady than you might think.

one| If you send cat pictures and gifs, or spend an exorbitant amount of time watching cat videos, you might be a cat lady. In drafting this post I was sucked into the rabbit hole and this post probably took 2 hours to write. #notsorry

two| If you spend a lot of time thinking about owning a cat and what you'd name said cat, the toys you'd by it, etc., you might be a cat lady.
three| If you buy, own, and/or wear cat clothing, you might be a cat lady.

four| If you have more than 3 cats (safe!), you might be a cat lady.
Personally, if I could, I'd have them all and we'd all live in a glorious cat nip haze. Unfortunately, I don't have the space or funds to live in cat heaven.

five| If you have an entire folder dedicated to photos of cats. Your cats, Internet cats, cat videos, etc., you might be a cat lady. I make zero apologies for having a folder dedicated to the clowder. They are my fur kids and I am a doting fur mom.

six| There is no six. I was too sidetracked by all of this awesome.

All right, the cat's out of the bag... I'm a cat lady!

Give Me All the Margs!

Someone please explain to me how in all the salsa Cinco de Mayo is falling on a Monday? Seriously, this is the worst thing to ever happen since St. Patrick's Day being on a Monday. Oh wait.... that already happened.

In any event margarita day is here and I plan to get my drink and dip on later today. Before we get into that I thought I'd recap the action packed weekend that went down in these parts.

I don't know about you but I think Leg Day is the best. I may be sore as hell 2 days later but it's a glorious pain. I rewarded myself with 2 Godiva chocolate covered pretzels and all the Disney I could stay awake for.

Saturday was weigh in and I'm down another 3 pounds. I was expecting a gain since I missed the week before and this wasn't the greatest food week for me. I was just completely off my game. But it's clear that I didn't eat that horrible and all my workouts and walking are paying off.

Saturday night we watched the Mayweather fight and crashed at our friends' house. Let's just get a little fun fact out of the way... I hate sleeping at other people's houses. Like, I would rather sleep in my car than have to sleep at someone else's house. It just feels so foreign and uncomfortable and I can't stand it, besides, I feel like I'm cheating on my bed. However, I only slept for 2 hours. I couldn't tell you the last time I saw 4:30 am.

Sunday we hit the gym, lazed around doing domestic things... Ok, I did domestic things, he lazed around. Later that afternoon we headed over to Montclair for the film festival. Being a Yelp member has its perks and I was lucky enough to score 2 free tickets to the Sunday matinee showing on Intramural. Following we went out to grab some food with fellow yelpers at Mancinni's in Montclair. There is nothing better than coal oven pizza!

Overall, a too short, very fun weekend. I'll take another!

And on that note,

May I? {May Goals}

The April showers were are here in full force. Clearly everything is just going to be late this season. I'm trying really hard to convince myself that summer IS coming but I'm not even believing myself anymore.

Today is my last day of actual class. I'm tempted to ball out this weekend as a means of celebrating. Who am I kidding. I'll be in bed at 10pm on Friday.

Down by 5
This month I'd like to lose another 5 pounds. It's not unrealistic and it's 100% feasible. I just need to stay focused on my eating and put in a good effort during my workouts.

Blog Better
I'm not to sure what happened in April but I pretty much fell off the blogging block. I didn't have much more to say than 'I hate school' and 'Look at me party with fitness jesus' so instead, I said nothing. Sometimes silence is golden but this month I'd like to go back to the earlirt months when I had prescheduled posts ready to go.

Clean out the closet
This one is something I'm excited to do. The fun part is I'll be getting rid of all the clothes that are too big for me. I'll keep shirts probably because we all have those "fat days" but anything that too big, too tight, or hasn't been worn in over a year is going to a new home.

Buy new sneakers
I've been procrastinating on this since last fall, which is horrible. Just like how I planned to by my HRM, I'm giving myself permission to buy new sneakers this month.

So that's what's in store for May. Any tips or tricks to master these goals?
