Gratitude = Happiness

I hope you all had a great holiday weekend! I know I did. I don't know about you but lately I've been seeing a lot more positivity in my life. And if there's one thing I've learned it's that positivity begets positivity.

In the last month or so I'm been trying to be more mindful. More present. More in tune. And you know what? It's pretty wonderful. Last week I was reading Kelli's post about what Happiness Is to her. I was inspired by her list, and because she lives super close to the beach, jealous. Jealous because a lot of things on her list brought a smile to my face. But from an inspirational standpoint, I decided to create my own list.

the smell of sweet grass on a warm summer night

the crashing of waves on the beach

the warm rays of the sun on my skin

summer showers

tiger lilies

watching Gone With the Wind for the 461584962th time

making dinner from scratch

being sucked in by a good book 

getting a great deal when shopping

wearing a new outfit, looking in the mirror, and feeling like you can take on the world


If you've been here in the last month of so you know that I've pretty much taken on the challenge to alter my spiritual life. I promise I'm not going to get religious on you. What I mean is that I'm working on me. From the inside out. I've been making conscious efforts to be happier every day. To find the silver linings in all situations. To be more positive. To find the true me. 

That doesn't mean I've been lost per se, but it does mean that I've come to the basic realization that I have one life, and I'm going to live it the best way I can - by being happy!
