Booked Vol. 2

I'm still enjoying my time off but it's book day!! {insert happy dance} and I'm not about to miss it. I look forward to this linkup because it gives so many recommendations and suggestions for new books to read. Plus I like to see what other people enjoy reading.

The Scale:     A {love}     B {enjoyed it}   C {ehh}    D {let down}      DNF

Here's a look where my nose has been buried lately.

E-Squared / Pam Grout  Grade: B
The book discusses the concept that your thoughts create your reality. "Rather than take it on faith, you are invited to conduct nine 48-hour experiments to prove there really is a positive, loving, totally hip force in the universe". I like to keep an open mind so I decided to give some of the experiments a try.

Social Death / Tatiana Boncompagni Grade: B
This book to me a little while to get into. Not because it was bad but because I kept reading everything else instead. Once I committed to it I found it to be quite enjoyable. Clyde Shaw is a reporter who is covering a case, however, the victim is her best friend. Of course there are lies, threats, and dark secrets revealed in an attempt to find the killer. For a free eBook on Amazon this was pretty good.

The Lean / Kathy Freston Grade: C
This book was typical to its category. A diet book with daily tips to move you in the right direction without out you even noticing the good habits you've formed. I already do a lot of these things - drinking lots of water, having an apple several times a week... To me, it wasn't any new information, just a way for a beginner to ease into a healthy eating lifestyle.

It Had To Be Love / Tamara Baumann  Grade: B
I received this book courtesy of Net Galley. These kind of romance novels are my favorite. Girl has a sordid past she wants to keep hidden. Hot sheriff knows she's keeping a secret. They start out as friends, she tries to stay away, they slowly find their way together and then BAM! Drama ensues.

Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography / NPH Grade: A
How was this book going to be anything but awesome?! Everyone loves NPH, especially now that he's more popular than ever thanks to HIMYM. This autobiography didn't disappoint. I was laughing from the very first page. Plus, color photos!!

Grey / E.L. James Grade: DNF
Naturally, having read the 50 Shades trilogy, I felt the need to read this. You know, for completeness or something. I made it through the first page and then said Nope, not doing it.  I read the original books. I just don't see anything new coming from this. And honestly, IDGAF.

Four Days with Hemingway's Ghost / Tom Winton Grade: B
This was a free Kindle book I downloaded forever ago. As usual, I was putting it off. I found  actually really liked this book. It was a quick, easy read and had it's moment of humor.

Find the Good / Heather Lende Grade: A
I compulsively look for new books to read. Even when there are 2-3 unread on my table, I'm still looking for something new. I picked this up at the library while browsing the new releases section. It seemed like a quick read. The author is an obituary writer in Alaska and the book talks about the things she's learned about how to live life. You guys, this book is so sweet. It was just one of those make you smile to yourself, feel good books. I definitely recommend it.

Radical Self Love / Gala Darling Grade: B
Jenn is the coolest blogger on the block! She sent me her copy to read because I'm impatient and didn't want to wait until February when the book was being republished by Hay House. So awesome. As for the book, I liked this. Since I've dove head first into my spiritual journey I knew about some of the things she talks about but it was nice to learn some new things and just read what she has to offer.
