The Purge

Last year I challenged myself to live minimally. There were 30 tasks and although I modified some of them to be more realistic for me, it was a great challenge and I really enjoyed it.

The other day I was on Pinterest for who knows what when a pin caught my eye. 60 Things to Toss Out in the Next 60 Days. This immediately spoke to my purge-loving heart. You see, as mich as I love to purge, I also hang on to things that I probably don't need. I am by no means a hoarder, but #3 on this list? Sooo guilty!

Personally, I don't think I need 60 days to complete this list. However, I'm going to give myself the allotted time frame to see how much I can actually cross off (another pleasure!).

I actually love this list because as I read through it I realized there are quite a few of these that I have been needlessly holding on to. What do you have to purge?

  1. the makeup and polish were the hardest for me to let go. i'm a sucker for pretty packaging and if i'm being honest with myself, i spent SO MUCH MONEY on that shit it felt like i was throwing my wallet in the trash. but i did it and i felt much better decluttering and simplifying my life. since then, i've avoided sephora like the plague because that place emits some kind of mind control and you end up walking out of there with shit that you don't need! they must be run by the same parent company as target.

    1. You can always donate your make-up that you're not using to a homeless shelter for women, trust me you'll feel great! Or donate to our non-profit Moments of Memory.org, we create art experiences for people with Alzheimer's and we use a lot of women's make-up, check out our website for samples and mailing address:0)

The only thing I won't part with are the last 6 or so issues of All You becuase that was my favorite magazine and there were SO many great tips and recipes in them! And don't lie... you were probably pinning more planner stuffs! :P

  5. Okay, I'm pretty good with most of these. I put "Toss 101 things" on my 101 in 1001 list, and it was one of the first items I crossed off. I just don't have the space (or the desire) to hang on to most stuff. HOWEVER... #7 (they'll turn up!), #8 (NOSTALGIA<3), #20 (but, but, but..), #28 (my old pair of Chucks are unwearable, but I'm keeping them forever), #36 (I swear, they're interesting!), #41 (on my list separately, actually - just need to watch a few first to see if I don't want to rewatch them!), #57 (working on this with my 101 in 1001)... okay, guess I have my marching orders for the next 60 days!
