Since I missed the big spring/summer goals link up a few weeks ago I decided that today would be a perfect time to make my own declarations for the summer season. Especially since America's birthday is a few short days away!

These goals/plans are in no particular order and the only time limit I'm imposing is that they're complete before next season's link up.

1| Buy a fireproof safe: I've had one of these on my wishlist for several years. Why I've never actually bought one is beyond me but it's time. Having my passport, social security card, and birth certificate somewhere safe is important.

2| Pay NJ tax: I'm not even going to waste the time reviving this dead horse by explaining this story. All I know is in $103 I'm no longer burdened by a former job.

3| Lose 5 pounds: I know that putting that on here is dangerous but I'm doing it anyway. 5lbs in 2.5 months is incredibly realistic. I'm already down 4.4 so I just need to stay on the train.

4| Get through the magazines: I wish I were kidding when I say I have a stack of magazines on my table. Unfortunately, I'm not. Half of them have never even been opened but like the weirdo that I am, I have to read them. Fortunately, this is part of my purge process.

5| Go down the shore at least 5 times: shore life is the only life. I originally planned to be a season pass their year but at this point I don't know if it's worth it. Still, I want to get beach time as much as possible now that I can drive myself.

6| Try something new: I'm purposely leaving this vague because I have no idea what could pop up. A fitness class, a new cuisine, an experience. My mind is fully open.

That's it for this season. There are smaller things already in the queue but they're not worth mentioning. I'm fairly confident I can reach all of these.

In other news, hooray for July!! I'm not sure if spring ever really sprung. It was gone before I knew it and this isn't me complaining because helllooo summer! I'm headed home this weekend to get into all sorts of trouble with Little Miss.

  1. I changed my mind about the beach pass too. I did the math and I think I needed 8 trips to make it worth it? I love being down the shore, but I honestly don't think I'd go to the beach that much. I prefer being at a shore house with a boat and the OPTION to go to the beach. That said of course I can't wait for our blate :) and going to different beaches and not feeling like I HAVE to go to the one to get my money's worth is just going to be better. But whenever you're up for a hooky-day beach trip or whatever, you let me know ;)
As for the try something new, come get Brazilian food or take an aerial or acro yoga class with me!!!!

  2. Good luck on your goals! You're already doing great on the lose 5 lbs. I hope you get to the shore many times.

  3. I have my will in the fireproof safe at work (where we keep all original wills we work on) but I don't have one at home. I haven't felt it necessary I guess? I figure I can replace everything. YAY for purge process, good luck with all those magazines! 4.4 lbs is awesome, congrats. You'll have no trouble hitting 5 lbs in 2.5 months!

  4. yes to more shore days. if we had a decent shore, i'd be there more often!

  5. These are all great goals! Specific but not overly specific! I have to say that I am right there with you with magazines, well actually I used to be just like that I have killed most of my subscriptions because of that exact reason! Now I only have subscriptions to like 2 or 3 magazines at most! So much easier to stay on top of!

  6. Oooooh a fireproof safe?? This sounds like such a grown up concept... Now I'm thinking we need one too! And I'm with you on losing 5 pounds. This past month, I worked out consistently 3-4 times a week and actually stayed the same exact weight which is progress since I was steadily gaining a couple pounds a month. Hoping to lose 5-7 lbs by the end of August. Also, your magazine pile made me chuckle because I'm the same way - but with all my mail in general. It's just piles up - I'm horrible with going through it haha.

  7. Definitely get the fireproof safe! I got a small one for like $15 for just those items (and some cash) and it's just so much easier having everything in one very safe (ha) spot. I recently moved my stack of magazine off of my table and onto the floor next to my couch, but still not sure if I'll part with all of them! I used to cut out articles/recipes I liked and put them in a "home" binder, but haven't done so in awhile. Good luck on all of your goals!
