Live and Let Live

Although I've been MIA from blogland for quite some time, I have been very present in my real life. I've been purging and replacing; saving and storing, and it feels great! Here's what I've been up to.

+ At the end of October I made the leap and bought a new couch. The delivery guys couldn't get it in the house. This ended up being a blessing in disguise because when I went to pick a "back up" I ended up loving it much more and it was delivered mid-November. It's heavenly. I bought the rug the following weekend and now I'm completely in love with my living room.

+ I went to my first Friendsgiving and it was so much. The dishes everyone brought were so, so good and there were so many laughs shared. I can't wait to do it again next year.

+ Mid-month Alyssa and I met up for happy hour and much needed conversation. it was the best day of the week.

+ That same weekend I got my hair cut and treated myself to a free movie {yay!} and redeemed my birthday coupon for free popcorn {double yay!} and went to see Murder on the Orient Express. I'll admit I had never read the story so I found the movie to be very enjoyable since I had no idea whodunit.

+ I took the day before Thanksgiving off {something I've never done} in order to travel stress free. Let me tell you how amazing this was! There was NO traffic and I made it home in less than 2.5 hours. I then had the afternoon to meet up with friends and then picked my niece up from school and took her to lunch. It was a great day.

+ For my birthday I threw myself a birthday happy hour and invited some of my favorite people. The evening ended with me staying out until 1 AM and then calling out of work the next day because who wants to work on their birthday!? The actual day of was magical.

All in all, November was a pretty nice month. It passed quickly, much like the rest of the year has, but it was certainly enjoyable!

Living Your Best Life

Good Morning from Chicago!!!

I feel like I'm in hardcore blogger mode right now - Starbucks to my right, MacBook on my lap, sitting in an airpot waiting on my flight. I don't think it gets any more official than this.

As I make my way back into semi-regular blogging I was reading a week or so ago and was turned on to Alexandra's collaboration for living your best life. It was too late in the month to participate but fortunately for me, the challenge has been such a success that they extended into December.

As you may have heard, 2017 has been my Year of Less. I have to say it's been pretty productive and it's absolutely made me feel better and lighter in all aspects. I may be on a plane at the moment {more on that next week} but I'm so excited to dive in and continue living my best life.

In case you've never heard of it, this is what it's all about in Shea's words:

Here's a look at the December prompts.

Each Monday we share our ideas for how we'll complete the coming week's prompts.

I got a jump on the first few days since I knew I was going to be out of town {I'll fill you in later}

December 1 - make hot chocolate: I plan to complete this one my the end of the day today. I had a 5 AM flight and am feeling a bit under the weather so I made a hot toddy on the plane {win!} but I love me some hot chocolate so I know it's coming.

December 2 - shop your closet for holiday outfits: I have a holiday party tonight with the Punishers LEMC so I actually shopped my closet Wednesday and Thursday and put this together. It's nothing too fancy, but I'm happy with it, and I'll be comfortable all night! Black jeans by Levis; shell by Loft; Blazer and necklace from I don't remember; shoes by Steve Madden

December 3 - start a new holiday tradition: My mom and I have pretty much already started this. I can't even out into words how much we scaled Christmas down this year. We agreed that we would buy 1 present for each person (there are 4 of us) and do stockings, and that's it.

December 4 - take a holiday stress off your plate: I'm still on the fence about this one because it's something I've never done buuutt.... I may not put up my Christmas tree this year. It feels very Grinchy but at the same time, it's going to require rearranging the living room, and I'm just not in the mood to haul out all the decor, put it up, and then pack it all away again. We'll see but I think I'm going to just do the other stuff {snow globe, wreath, pillow} this year to keep it easy.

That's how I tend to kick off December living my best life!  Tell me, are you participating in the challenge? And if not, how can/are you living your life this holiday season?
